PAID FAMILY & MEDICAL LEAVE
Paid time off for your family with Colorado FAMLI
New baby? Adopting? Caring for a loved one? Colorado's FAMLI program gives most workers paid, job-protected leave to be there for the moments that matter.
What FAMLI covers
FAMLI (Family and Medical Leave Insurance) is Colorado's paid-leave program. You can use it to bond with a new child, care for a family member with a serious health condition, recover from your own serious health condition, or handle needs related to military deployment or safe leave. This page focuses on growing families — but the program supports many life situations.
What you can expect
Time off
Up to 12 weeks of paid leave to bond with a new child — up to 16 weeks with pregnancy or childbirth complications, plus additional weeks if a newborn needs NICU care.
Your pay
Wage replacement up to 90% of your average weekly wage — lower earners receive a higher share — capped at $1,381 per week in 2026.
Who's covered
Most Colorado workers qualify after earning about $2,500 in wages. Self-employed people and independent contractors can choose to opt in.
